Juz arching around

An Arch is a structure that spans a space and supports structure and weight below it. Arches appeared as early as the 2nd millennium BC in Mesopotamian brick architecture and their systematic use started with the Ancient Romans who were the first to apply the technique to a wide range of structures.

Let's bring this "Loggia" down

Loggia // A loggia (UK /ˈlɒiə/, US /ˈlə/, Italian: [ˈlɔddʒa]) is an architectural feature which is a covered exterior gallery or corridor usually on an upper level, or sometimes ground level. The outer wall is open to the elements, usually supported by a series of columns or arches. Loggias can be located either on the front or side of a building and are not meant for entrance but as an out-of-door sitting room.

The "Loggia" of this residency was an architectural adding in 1865.The building originally was built in 1840.In late 2012 we started the restoration of the residency transforming it into a cultural museum preserving it's most significant artistic and architectural phases.This is the deconstruction of the Loggia in terms of preservation and enforcement of its static value.It happened in autumn 2013.

The building is featured in an old greek film (1968) as Italian headquarters during W.W.II. In order to see it click the word  LINK

//Lets bring this moffo down//

This is under the base of the column.Check the "148 years old"pencil marks from the constructor.You can also see the oxidized metal link aplied with moulded sulfur between the two pieces of marble.
